Purpose of the Job/Job Summary
The Application Development and customization Officer is responsible for following up on the functional and technical integrity of the core banking system and other enterprise applications and implementing solutions by proactively involved in the CBS and other enterprise applications installation, configuration and upgrade, and provide workarounds whenever necessary. Proactive in working end to end, including understanding requirements and analyzing, providing solutions, coding, testing, build & deploy and support systems.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform Core Banking Application maintenance during and after the implementation of the project
- Recommend improvements to the core banking system technical and business processes in order to meet the MFI’s requirements
- Translate the business needs and Requirement Specifications into Design Specifications
- Develop program/code from Design Specifications to good quality Software and in conformance to system development standards
- Work closely with consultants and third party vendors and assess consultant’s/vendor’s proposals and recommendations
- Specify and ensure that application controls are incorporated during design of the software in order to check on risk exposure.
- Document system developments in accordance to the application development standard practices
- Create test plans, test cases, test scripts and perform technical unit testing
- Work with the vendor of the MFI’s core and other enterprise solutions and systems to track and manage Change requests and user issues
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents, design and execute test plans
- Train other team members, support staffs and end users on CBS basic and advanced operations
- Working with the CBS application development tools, Docker-Container and other CBS development products and tools to develop or interface with CBS applications and database
- Troubleshoots problems reported by support staffs and branches and other end users
- Develop routines for the extraction of data from the CBS system as per regulatory requirement
- Create and Update help-desk knowledge databases
- Provides support in the areas of CBS CASA, Loans, Finance and Treasury operations technically and functionally
- Ensure that new updates, patches and customization are well-tested on UAT environment before they are released to the production environment
- Work closely with IT Security to ensure that applications are well secured and adhere to systems security policies and procedures;
- Troubleshooting and logging issues to the Vendors Help Desk regarding CBS products
- Assist IT infrastructure department in creating and implementing a strategic plan to improve the supportability of the infrastructure
- Manage and ensure changes are processed through Change Management Procedure
- Develop, Implement and maintain all operational processes, procedures and policies related to CBS and other enterprise applications
- Address and close audit findings/observations within the give timelines
- Performs other related activities as might be given to you from time to time by your immediate supervisor
About You
Qualifications and Experience
1. Education and training
- MSc/BSc Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer/Electrical Engineering or any other related field of studies
2. Experience
- 2 to 3 years of Experience as Application development and customization Officer
3. Technical and Behavioral competencies like Decision Making, Communication…etc.
- Ability to identify problems and evaluate alternative solutions to determine which one is best
- Excellent listening and strong verbal communication skills
- Reading comprehension and excellent writing skill
- The ability to analyze large amounts of data quickly and efficiently is necessary
- Ability to continually generate new ideas
