About the Job

Kidy Foundation is a nonprofit organization working to improve road safety, prevent vehicle collisions, support survivors, and empower communities through education and advocacy.

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Video Editor to produce compelling multimedia content for our programs, campaigns, events, and digital platforms. The successful candidate will transform raw video, audio, and photographs into polished, publication-ready content.

The role covers podcast editing, short-form social media video, event recaps, documentary content, photography, and social media graphics. The Video Editor will also independently plan, shoot, and edit simple short-form content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts.
Key responsibilities

  • Edit multicamera podcast recordings, interviews, event footage, documentaries, and other long-form content.
  • Improve pacing and clarity by removing filler, false starts, dead air, and unnecessary material.
  • Clean and balance dialogue, music, and sound effects.
  • Correct exposure, white balance, contrast, and colour across footage from different cameras.
  • Produce short social media clips from podcasts, interviews, events, and longer videos.
  • Plan and shoot simple talking-head videos, announcements, behind-the-scenes content, and field stories.
  • Set up basic lighting and audio equipment for short-form productions.
  • Create vertical, square, and horizontal versions appropriate for different social media platforms.
  • Add subtitles, captions, animated titles, lower thirds, music, b-roll, and simple motion graphics.
  • Create social media graphics, quote cards, campaign visuals, event promotions, carousels, and YouTube thumbnails.
  • Edit and retouch photographs for social media, web, and print.
  • Produce Amharic and English subtitles and on-screen text with correct spelling, typography, and line breaks.
  • Apply Kidy Foundation’s logo, colours, fonts, and visual standards consistently.
  • Organize, label, back up, and archive footage, photographs, audio, project files, and final exports.
  • Maintain reusable templates and export presets for frequently produced content.
  • Work with the media, communications, content, and programme teams to understand briefs and meet publishing deadlines.
  • Present draft edits for review and implement feedback promptly.
  • Handle interviews and personal stories involving survivors and affected families with care, sensitivity, and confidentiality.

This is a fully on-site position based at the Kidy Foundation Head Office. The successful candidate must be available to work from the office during regular working hours. Occasional travel within Addis Ababa and outside the city may be required for approved filming assignments, events, and field activities. Evening or weekend work may occasionally be necessary around major events and publishing deadlines.
