Organizational Context and Scope 

Ethiopian Civil Society Organization Forum (ECSF) – is a non-partisan, impartial, Inclusive and voluntary national platform established in 2013 and also re-registered under the new  Ethiopia Civil Society organization Proclamation number 1113/2019 by Authority for Civil Society Organizations with certificate number 4414. ECSF is also a network of network that embraces more than 54 consortiums in the country, which comprise more than 1,500 members under the 54 consortia. The Forum has peculiar experience in bringing several networks and engages them for the common national agendas The vision of the Forum is to see effective, responsive and accountable governance in Ethiopia with active civil society participation by 2050 and the aim is to address the shared issues and difficulties faced Ethiopia’s CSO sector, including a lack of coordination, consortia, and networks, as well as the deteriorating relationship between CSOs and the Ethiopian government after the 2005 Election, were cited as reasons for the foundation of the ECSF. 

ECSF is currently planned to implementing the project titled, Supporting Civil Society in Ethiopia, to implement a project on promotion of civic engagement and social inclusion in Amhara and Afar regions through  financial support Ireland Embassy partnership with  Pro-Development Network(PDN) from the period of November 01/2024 at the Geographical area of Afar regional state. The aim of the project is contribute to strengthening the capacity of grassroots CSOs, CBOs, FBOs, local community leaders, and other peace actors to effectively and sustainably engage community members in fostering social cohesion for peaceful coexistence in conflict-affected areas of Amhara and Afar regional states. For the full engagements of the above mentioned project  ECSF  is looking for  recruiting a competent fulltime professional Project Officer  to coordinate the intended project implemented in Afar regional state Samara city.

Core Functions and Responsibilities 

Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Forum is currently  seeking to hire A project Officer Finance who is responsible to carry out the  day to day project activities of the Organization stationed at the program area office in Afar region with consultation of the project team at head quarter. The project officer will report directly to the project manager and assist with all aspects of the project from initiation to closure. He/She will be results-oriented and motivated, accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a history of assisting project managers with delivering projects on time and within budget. Time management skills are a must, as well as paying close attention to detail, and being accurate and reliable. He/She is responsible for  Preparing  reports as scheduled; provides support to prepare annual and quarterly work plans and budgets as well as special report as required for financial planning in consultation with the Project Manager.

  • Execute project administration
  • Provide administrative support as needed

  • Manage project documentation and reporting
  • Track budget, activities, progress, etc.
  • Organize meetings
  • Take meeting notes
  • Help provide resources

Contract type 

  • The type of contract is a fixed term and renewal modality.

Duration of the position : One years with possibility of renewable.


Duty Station    :    Afar region, Samara  Ethiopia  

   
Type of Appointment    :    1 year with possibility of extension based on the performance of the staff and availability of funds 


Report to    :     Program Manager 


Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Qualification and experience
