We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Legal, Insurance & Real Estate Expert to join our team. In this role, you will oversee legal, insurance, and real estate matters, ensuring full compliance with local laws and regulations while safeguarding the company’s interests.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams locally and at headquarters, contributing to key business projects within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

TotalEnergies Marketing Ethiopia S.C. is the local affiliate, established in 1950. It markets fuels, lubricants, and specialty products through a network of over 120 service stations across Ethiopia, serving both retail and direct customers.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Affairs

• Lead and support the negotiation, coordination, follow-up, and management of legal cases at various levels
• Draft, review, and manage contracts and legal documents (commercial agreements, leases, etc.) in line with company standards and local regulations
• Provide proactive legal advice to management and internal departments, including labor law matters
• Represent the company in court and before relevant authorities
• Manage dispute resolution, including negotiation and out-of-court settlements where appropriate

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure proper custody, control, and archiving of all legal documentation and company records
• Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards
• Ensure payment and compliance with all legal, real estate, and insurance-related taxes and obligations

Real Estate Management

• Coordinate and oversee property-related activities, including title deeds, land acquisition, and permits
• Ensure proper legal ownership rights and compliance with land regulations
• Manage construction permit processes and property documentation

Insurance Management

• Ensure adequate insurance coverage for company assets
• Coordinate with brokers and insurers to negotiate and manage policies
• Monitor insurance contracts and claims processes

Context & Work Environment

Operating in a complex legal environment with lengthy judicial processes, navigating regulatory and land policy constraints and supporting business performance in a regulated fuel pricing environment

About You

What We’re Looking For:

• Educational Background: LLB degree in law from a recognized university
• Experience:  5-7 years’ experience as a legal advisor from law firm or to similar companies and experience in court litigation is advantageous

• Language:  Excellent written and spoken English
