About the Job

E-Ethio Credit System PLC is a growing business engaged in the import and export of vehicles, construction materials, steel and steel raw materials, as well as the export of livestock and meat. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting effective financial management.

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and reviewing accounting activities, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with applicable tax and accounting requirements, and supporting management with accurate and timely financial information. Experience working in an import/export, trading, or similar business environment is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review day-to-day accounting transactions and financial records.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable records.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash and bank transactions.
  • Review invoices, receipts, payments, and supporting financial documents.
  • Support import and export-related accounting transactions and documentation.
  • Record and reconcile foreign currency transactions and related financial activities.
  • Monitor inventory and cost-related accounting, including imported goods where applicable.
  • Prepare tax calculations and support timely tax declarations and payments.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, accounting standards, and company financial policies.
  • Assist with financial audits and provide required schedules and supporting documents.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and payables and follow up on discrepancies.
  • Review accounting entries and ensure proper documentation and authorization.
  • Assist management with budgeting, financial analysis, and financial decision-making.
  • Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain proper filing and confidentiality of financial records.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior accounting staff when required.
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by management.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Previous experience in an import/export, trading, distribution, or similar company is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian accounting and tax requirements.
  • Experience with financial reporting, bank reconciliation, tax, inventory, and general ledger management.
  • Good understanding of import/export financial transactions and documentation.
  • Experience using accounting/ERP software.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
