 MSD is a non-profit, civic society organization founded in 1999 to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Since then, MSD works to strengthen the socio-economic development of the wider community, and the nation at large. Working with partners and stakeholders, MSD advance the voice of citizens and community structures in service delivery, identifying priority needs, provide support and services to target groups with education, skills and promote opportunity to get along with assets. Aligned to its vision, mission and strategic objectives, MSD has been working in different development, emergency and humanitarian endeavours including HIV Prevention, care and support, Orphan and vulnerable children (OCV) care and support, Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH),Family Planning (FP), Gender Based Violence (GBV), migration, child protection and environmental protection. Through these technical area and services, it reached different hard to reach target groups including early married girls, GBV survivor, OVCs, refugees, PLHA, commercial sex workers and their clients, waitresses, long truck drivers, CSOs, CBOs and the community. At community level, the organization works with community members and community based social service providing institutions, schools, health facilities, government line offices, marginalized groups and professional associations.

 I. JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Partnership & Communications Manager is responsible for resource mobilization, developing and implementing communication and partnership activities that inform the public about MSD. She/he prepares and maintains current information and public relations materials for MSD’s operations; briefs and accompanies visitors on visits; assists in organizing and documenting conferences and workshops; and assists in editorial matters.  

 II. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares donor mapping including themes of interest, guidelines for resource access, and financial regulations for resource mobilization;
  • Identifies and prepares donor profiles and their requirements;
  • Develops/adapts guideline, fund raising systems, policies, procedures and strategies for resource mobilization;
  • In cooperation with the technical staff formulates project proposals and submits to donors for funding;  
  • Devices a system to attract, create, and sustain new resources, especially based in the local community, members, business owners, etc.
  • Coordinates internal communication including procedures in establishment of inter departmental communication system and regularly follows the practice in alignment with the established system and facilitates corrective measures whenever the system is violated;
  • Coordinates external communication; follows up the communication is done based on the established external communication system;
  • Conduct regular assessments and mapping activity on potential partners that may create sustainable partnership and funding opportunities to MSD
  • Design comprehensive strategies with the objective to improve strong partnership, funding opportunities and organizational visibility to MSD
  • Develop and implement communication and partnership activities that inform the public about MSD;
  • Facilitates regular awareness enhancement programs for internal staff on MSD’s major organizational activities and achievements using different tools like posting articles on notice board, direct mailing, intra net communication, publishing newsletters/periodicals, through preparing regular staff meetings;
  • Ensures the development of database of MSD networks and Web site and periodical updates;
  • Prepares MSD’s Newsletter and increases its circulation;
  • Designs and publishes fliers, brochures, annual reports and other publication or promotional materials;
  • Prepares responses to requests by telephone, mail and other media for general information about MSD;
  • Prepares, edits, and places news releases and other written publicity for newspapers, radio and television;
  • Confers with staff regarding public relations and represents MSD to outside organizations and firms in conducting public relationship.

About You

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • MA/MBA or BA in Communication, Journalism, Sociology or other related field. 

EXPERIENCE

  • 5/7 years of work experiences in relevant jobs. 

 TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS 

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and monitoring activities;
  • Competency in computer applications: MS word, XL, Power point;
  • Good command of written and verbal communication in English and Amharic; 
  • Excellent in communication and interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Well organized and ability to act in a professional and ethical manner;
  • Willingness to work under pressure.
