Job Summary
The Medical Supervisor will play a vital role in overseeing and supporting MHPSS and GBV Activities in Afar and Tigray. The supervisor will report directly to the Field Coordinator and is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of GBV and MHPSS programs.
Essential duties and responsibilities.
Supervision:
- Oversee day-to-day GBV and MHPSS activities in Abala and Samre Woredas, ensuring adherence to protocols and standards.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor program implementation, offering feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure that case management and Counseling processes are properly followed, including documentation, follow-up, and reporting of cases.
Technical Support and Capacity Building:
- Ensure that all interventions adhere to established guidelines, protocols, and ethical standards for GBV and MHPSS.
- Monitor compliance with data protection and confidentiality protocols in all case management activities.
- Prepare staff to effectively respond to crises related to GBV and mental health, including emergency response protocols and safety planning for survivors.
- Provide ongoing technical support and training to case workers and psychologists, focusing on trauma-informed care and best practices in GBV and MHPSS.
- Conduct trainings to enhance the skills and knowledge of the staff including community mobilizers.
- Implement mentorship programs to team to foster professional development among team members.
- Establish and maintain a feedback mechanism for continuous learning and adaptation of services
Community Engagement:
- Support community mobilizers in designing and implementation of community-based activities
- Support community mobilizers in Collaboration with community leaders, local organizations, and stakeholders to raise awareness of GBV and mental health issues, promoting a supportive environment for survivors.
- Work with local authorities to strengthen referral pathways and support systems for individuals affected by GBV and Mental illness.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of GBV and MHPSS programs.
- Collect and analyze data related to program activities, ensuring that findings inform ongoing service delivery and program development.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on program activities, outcomes, and challenges for submission to the field coordinator.(Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly etc..)
- Participate in regular meetings with MdM leadership and provide timely updates on program progress and needs.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Facilitate collaboration with other humanitarian actors, including UN agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to enhance service delivery and response to GBV and Menthal health issues.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members to optimize resource use and service provision.
- Represent MdM in relevant coordination meetings, contributing to strategic discussions and planning efforts.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with MdM policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements in all program activities.
- Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure the availability of necessary materials and supplies for program implementation.
Employment Term: 9 months contract
Basic Salary: 85,784.40 ETB

About You
Job Requirement
Education
- BSC/MSC degree in health/Social work (MD, Public health, Psychology, Social Work, or related field)
Professional work experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in GBV and MHPSS roles within humanitarian contexts.
- Experience with international humanitarian organizations is a plus.
- Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Skills and Qualities Required
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, particularly in emergency situations.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

- Project management training is a plus
