ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW 

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referendum and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its’ institutional strength with a special focus on enhancement of human resource capacity. Accordingly, NEBE would like to invite applicants for Mechanic position who meet the following requirements.

Job Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of NEBE’s fleet of vehicles to ensure their safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation. The role also involves conducting regular vehicle inspections, diagnosing mechanical issues, and performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance the efficiency of NEBE’s transportation services.

Duties and responsibilities

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on NEBE vehicles, including engine, transmission, braking systems, electrical systems, and other components.
  • Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns to minimize disruption to NEBE operations.Preventive Maintenance
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles in coordination with the Fleet Management Unit.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential mechanical issues and address them proactively.Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Provide accurate assessments of vehicle conditions and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.Record Keeping
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Update vehicle service history to ensure compliance with NEBE standards.Procurement Support
  • Assist in identifying required spare parts and tools, and coordinate with relevant personnel for their procurement.
  • Ensure proper inventory management of tools and spare parts.Compliance and Safety
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet NEBE’s safety and operational standards.Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with drivers to understand vehicle performance and address reported issues.
  • Coordinate with other General Service Department staff to align vehicle maintenance with organizational needs.

About You

Education and Work Experience

  • BA degree in Automotive Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably within. 

Know-How (Skills) (Technical competencies):

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
  • Familiarity with modern diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Not a member of a political party.
