Ethiopian Civil Society Organization Forum (ECSF) – is a non-partisan, impartial, Inclusive and voluntary national platform established in 2013 and also re-registered under the new Ethiopia Civil Society organization Organization’s Proclamation No. number 1113/2019 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) with Registration certificate Certificate No. number 4414. ECSF is also a network of network Networks that embraces more than 54 consortiums Consortiums operating across the in the country, which comprise more than 1,500 members under the 54 consortiaConsortia. The Forum has peculiar experience in bringing several networks and engages them for the common national agendas.
The vision of the Forum is to see effective, responsive and accountable governance in Ethiopia with active civil Civil society Society participation by 2050 and the aim is to address the shared issues and difficulties faced Ethiopia’s CSO sector, including a lack of coordination among the , consortia/, and networks, as well as the deteriorating relationship between CSOs and the Ethiopian government after the 2005 Election, were cited as reasons for the foundation of the ECSF.
Job summary:
As Executive Director, you will be responsible for the implementation of the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Society Organizations Forum’s
Strategy, plans and projects, as well as overall day-to-day management, development and representation.
Job Description/ Main Functions:
- The general duties of your job will include, but are not limited to:
- Formal representation on behalf of the ECSF, including entering into contracts, including Contracts of employment.
- Implementation and revitalizing of the ECSF strategic y policy Policy manuals Manuals and organising further strategic planning.
- Implementation of the Board’s decisions, projects and contractual commitments of the Forum.
- Ensuring ECSF’s financial and structural sustainability.
- Oversight of the Forum’s planning and budgeting cycle.
- Shaping the ECSF activity profile and leading the further development of ECSF and its public visibility.
- Representing the Forum in all aspects of its operational and external activities (e.g. with the Board, members, partners, donors and the public).
- Leading the Secretariat of the Forum, including oversight, coordination and staff development.
- Following general developments in areas relevant to the ECSF, civil society, the public and policy etc.
About You
Requirements/Job Qualification:
- At least 10 12 years of proven experience in leadership at Managerial levels for BA degree and 8 10 years for MA degree in the field of public administration, Project Management and management and related field of studies (experience in an international NGO is an asset).
- Significant experience in implementing large projects / managing contracts, including
- Substantial experience with potential donors and an excellent fundraising record.
- Excellent knowledge of the Ethiopian political and civil society context,
- Aa wide network of contacts in the funding agencies and experience with advocacy activities.
- Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, democratic style of leadership, strong
- communication, administrative, crisis management and problem-solving abilities.
- Strategic and positive mind set, ability to design, operationalize and follow through processes and innovative capacities, all while working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Excellent writing and speaking in English and Amharic. Ideally a native level of English and a
- Good command of German too. Other European languages are also an asset.
