Job summary
To provide quality health care and medical services ensure quality of clinical service delivery for internally displaced peoples and host community in health facilities in Humera/Maikadra and support zonal health department, woreda health office in clinical mentorship.
JOB RESPONSIBITIES
Medical / Technical
- Provide clinical mentorship in Humera/Maikadra catchment health facilities
- Liaise with woreda and zonal health department in quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure implementation of health consultations, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses are based on the guidelines in Ethiopia and focusing initially on IMCI (Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses) and other guidelines.
- Support the treatment of co-infections in children diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition and referred to an appropriate outpatient treatment program.
- Provide support and ensure appropriate referrals to the medical doctor or to the relevant referral sites in a timely fashion without delays
- Ensure Prescribed medications and patient instructions are on correct usage based on guidelines
- Ensure medical supplies are available and support the projection of needs
- Support in identification of training needs, and undertake post training follow-ups
- Compile weekly and monthly reports and reports to team lead/medical officer, health specialist
- Closely work with health team, apply clinical mentorship approaches to identify and fill gaps in service provision.
- Follow EPI routine/campaigns sessions at clinic and catchment
- Follow infection, prevention, and control protocols through maintaining good hand hygiene and appropriately using personal protective equipment
- Ensure the Safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
Quality Management
- Aiming to achieve the highest quality programming possible within the challenging contexts
- Ensure all patients are treated based on the Guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the IMCI guidelines
- Ensure rational use of drugs such that only those essential for treatment are prescribed. Do not overprescribe.
- Provide compassionate and respectful care to all patients who present to the clinic
- Support other staff and colleagues to maintain good infection control practices to prevent spread of illnesses within the clinic and among the staff
Additional activities
- Support other areas of the clinic as requested or needed to ensure efficiency and quality of care to all
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, disposing of waste and sharps appropriately.
- Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding.

Physical Conditions
This position requires frequent travel to health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions.

About You
Education, Licenses, & Certfication
- Medical Doctor, BSc Health officer, BSc Nurse,
Experience
- Three years of related professional experience after qualification. Having INGO experience related to the position is un added advantage.

- Fluent spoken and written Amharic and English.
