The Opportunity
PIE is looking for experienced Project Officer to be based in Dangila and Debre-Birhan/Shewa-Robit towns of the Amhara region, Ethiopia to work along contractual partners and government stakeholders “Countering Harmful Practices F4B Project”. The Project Officer will offer grassroot level management and coordination of for the Countering Harmful Practices F4B Project (2026–2030), funded by the Dutch Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA). This project aims to strengthen local civil society organizations to prevent and respond to harmful practices including Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM), Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), teenage pregnancy, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Amhara.
Working under the general guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer focuses on day-to-day implementation coordination, monitoring, and reporting of project activities within the assigned project locations, in line with approved plans, budgets, donor requirements, and Plan International Ethiopia policies.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social work, Sociology, and other related Social Sciences fields with at least 3 years relevant experience of which at least two years’ experience with NGOs.
- In-depth knowledge of GBV, harmful traditional practices, gender equality, girls right and their relevance in their protection
- Good knowledge and understanding of development and humanitarian principles and established international child protection and CP/GBV and SRHR policies, strategies, programs and priorities, and NGO Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrated experience of working on child protection, gender equality, HTPs, civil society development, lobby and advocacy, behavioural change and communications
- Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of working with the regional and local government sectors.
- Experience with a diverse set of stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including from policy-makers and senior management to local government and CSOs, as well as community leaders and beneficiaries.
- Experience conducting joint supportive supervision with key stakeholders.
- Knowledge of effective participatory monitoring, evaluation and research systems and processes.

- Skills in planning, monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting.

- Excellent writing skills.
- Requires general finance, administration, information management and telecommunication skills and proficiency computer skills (SAP, Word, Excel, etc);
Languages required:
- Fluency in English language is essential
- In addition to Amharic other local Knowledge of Local Languages is a desirable
